Najdi Doors: Stories Carved in Wood and Patterns
Najdi doors are more than just entrances — they are artistic masterpieces that speak the language of heritage. Each door tells the story of a home and its people, reflecting values of generosity, privacy, and social status.
Traditionally handcrafted from tamarisk wood (athl), these doors are adorned with geometric and floral carvings, enhanced with decorative metal nails.
Materials and Execution Method:
- Pre-cut wooden doors and ready-made wooden shapes (circles, squares, triangles)
- Metal nails
- Acrylic paints and brushes
The Najdi doors are painted with vibrant acrylic colors such as blue and red, while the wooden beams (crossbars) are highlighted with contrasting tones to suit the overall design.
After painting, the wooden shapes are glued onto the surface, and the beams are decorated with nails to complete the traditional look.
